I want to cut my hair...

but I always chicken out.

The original plan was to chop it off as soon as I got back from honeymoon... that was almost a year ago. Well, as it seems to always go, when we returned I magically began having really good hair days with my crazy long hair! So I had my lovely, talented stylist, Hannah, cut some fashionably thin and awesome layers into my long locks to help them out and I loved it.

So I chilled with that for a while.

Then we moved to Texas. This is where I got my next inkling to snip the strands again. However, now I'm 9 hours away from my glorious stylist, oh wait, she moved to NYC after we moved to TX. Awesome. So after putting it off for some time I finally grin and bear it; found a stylist in town (after lots of researching and questioning that probably made me the most annoying customer ever) and got a "trim" to test her out. Didn't go well.

This experience I have since lovingly referred to as the "Texas chop job."

Then I received a glorious email from Hannah letting me know that she has decided to start flying in from NYC every three weeks to do hair. So you guessed it, I now schedule my trips to KC accordingly with her trips to KC just so that she can cut my hair. She's that good.

So the first time I got to see Hannah since the infamous "Texas chop job" was my most recent hair cut. She was aghast. Seeing panic span her face as she tousled my tangles I told her, "These are the remnants of my Texas chop job." To which she exhaled a large sigh of relief and said, "Thank God! I was standing here thinking, 'I didn't do this to her hair, did I?!'" LOL

So I talked to Hannah (again) about my dreams of cutting the locks loose. Told her I want to have enough to donate it and we talked length. Then told her the type of style I've been looking at and she said that currently, my remaining layers from the "Texas chop job" are still too short for my ideal styles to turn out right. Sigh Sooo... I'm still waiting for those to grow.

In the mean time, give me your opinions, readers. You can scan through some past posts to see my hair currently and here are a few pics of my ideas... feel free to leave links to ideas you have as well! =)

I'm getting quite anxious... grow hair, grow!

A Slothful Saturday

Well, while Mr. Young has proven quite productive today (arising way too early for a Saturday, going for a 50 mile bike ride and currently retrieving the necessary supplies to change the oil in both of our vehicles), I have been utterly useless.

Well, I suppose not totally utterly useless.

I have finally accomplished the major goal (well I consider it major, anyway) of posting our professional wedding pictures up on facebook! This tedious process only took me, oh, about FOUR HOURS. But hey, that's a lot of pictures to sort, upload, organize and tag!

Oh, and might I add that Friday evening may have been rather slothful as well? But there I had a good excuse. I had a horrible headache. Blegh. So I went to bed early. Hubs got me up around 10pm so that I could brush my teeth and take my contacts out. I promptly fell back asleep and did not arise until about 9am this morning. Sooo... not including the nap I took when I got home from subbing, plus the nap I took before I actually went to bed for the night... I still got 11 hours of sleep.

And haven't really done much of anything today...

And the house is a mess...

There are stacks of folded laundry everywhere...

*sigh* So I guess that's my next item to tackle...

Downtown SD & Point Loma: Friday, Day 2

Going through downtown SD on our way to Point Loma from Coronado...

My sweet pic... taken without looking out of a moving vehicle. It totally looks like a stock photo. lol

Where's Waldo: Can you find the apple? LOL

Heading through the Point Loma campus to reach the ocean! =)

Point Loma has a Young Hall! =) I knew it, we're meant to live in San Diego.

The path to reach the water was slightly treacherous... I'm well awayre what a dork I look like here. I'm not a graceful climber, I've accepted that.

Ahhh, beautiful view.

Hola Prima!
Looks like the water is parting around us! LOL We're actually standing upon a rather high cliff edge to which I was quite nervous to turn my back on....

I'm aware this may be cruel, but I was cheering about a surfer who had just wiped out big time... lol

Mark's having a personal discussion with his new friend... hahaha =)

Eventually we made our way all the way down to the water. Here we are in front of the cave Karissa and I are about to crawl into...

From the inside of the cave. Nachelle saw fit not to share with us until later that as we crawled further in, a large swarm of somethings came flying out... thankfully we never saw them while we were in there but it gave me the heebie geebies!!!

The crew strolling down the beach... the tide is upon us and see that cliff sticking out ahead of us? We're about to go around that. Had to time it just right with the waves... lol

EEEWWW!!! They're picking it's nose!!!

On the way back... the tide was even MORE upon us!!! Moments after taking this picture I slipped on a wet rock as I was scampering across trying to beat the ominous waves... lol

This surfer dude's dog was so cute. He sat on the beach watching his owner surf until he started to swim in, then the doggie raced out to meet him! Too cute! =)

The Sullivans. =)

Gorgeous view!

Sara's DIY Birthday Gift: Singed Flower Clips & Headband

I got the tutorial for this awesome little DIY project from Craftaholics Anonymous. It's so cute!!! I was instantly sold and wanted to make my own singed flower accessories to match everything I own! =) Anyway... this is my attempt at it, I thought they turned out cute! And we made it a birthday gift for hub's little sister, Sara. =) Happy Birthday Sara!

First off, supplies. The whole gift was under $20 and that was with buying WAY more satin ribbon, clips and buttons than I needed... extras to make some for myself, yay! =)

Supplies: 4" satin ribbon, headband, clips and buttons

Cut successively smaller circles from the satin material. I did mine free hand (per suggestion from the instructions I found) in order to make the flowers imperfect. My largest circle was about 3 1/2" wide. As you can see, I used four.

Singe the edges of each circle. Allowing the edges to curl up makes a neat effect. =)

Sew buttons through the center of the flower. This was a little tricky on the first few stitches, keeping the circles together and centered, but I worked with it and it wasn't too bad...

After the flowers were put together I simply decided what color of clips I wanted to put them on and used a hot glue gun to attach them. (For the headband, I did use some thread to help tie the flower in place before I glued it in order to set it at the angle I wanted it at.)

Ta-Da! Miss Sara said she loved them. I'm glad! I love them too... I'm making some for myself ASAP! =D

Two Steps Closer to Debt FREEDOM!

Hello beautiful blog readers!!! The hubs and I are just so excited, I had to let you all in on the celebration! =)

We are officially two steps closer to our goal of living debt free! Since our tax return was deposited into our account this month we've wiped out our BOA credit card which holds the loan for our truck as well as my UMKC account balance, WOO!!! =)

Our remaining debts now stand as our student loans and the mortgage... SO EXCITING!!! We've worked so hard to get to this point, we can't believe we're staring it in the face now!!!

Baby steps, taking them one at a time, but it's paying off... literally!!!

If you're buried in debt and can't seem to get out, I highly recommend checking into the Dave Ramsey plan for finding freedom from debt.

Thanks for celebrating with us fellow blog friends!!!
